How to find your ring size?
It is important to know your ring size well in order to avoid ending up with a ring that is too tight and risks injuring you, or on the contrary, a ring that is too loose and risks slipping off your finger.
Measuring the diameter of a ring
If you already have a ring that suits your finger size, and especially that you are used to wearing, you can use this ring to find your size, by following these steps:
-
Step 1: Place the ring on a flat surface
-
Step 2: Measure the diameter of the inside face of the ring. For this, the rule must join the inner left face and the inner right face of the ring. Be careful to measure the place with the widest diameter, and to hold the ruler straight.
-
Step 3: Enter the diameter in the ring size correspondence table and determine the size of your ring
Use a flat, metal ruler for more accurate measurement
If the diameter of the ring falls between two sizes, it is advisable to take the larger size
This method is one of the simple and inexpensive methods. However, the measurement cannot be 100% reliable because it is not easy to determine the place whose diameter is the largest. Just shift a millimeter or do not hold the ruler straight, and the ring will not be your size. So take all the necessary precautions to measure your ring and don't hesitate to repeat the measurement several times to get the right size.
Measuring finger size
If you don't have a lucky ring available, you can measure around your finger. To do this, follow these steps:
-
Step 1: Wrap non-stretch string or a 1 cm thick strip of paper around the second knuckle, at the widest point of your finger. The string or the paper must not be too tight or too loose because in both cases, the size raised will not be the right one
-
Step 2: Mark where the string or paper intersect
-
Step 3: Lay the string or paper on a flat surface
-
Step 4: Measure the distance between the end of the string or paper and the marking. This distance corresponds to your finger circumference.
-
Step 5: Transfer the measurement to the ring size correspondence table and determine the size of your ring
You can use a measuring tape instead of string or paper, which will make the task easier because you will get your finger size directly.
If the finger circumference is between two sizes, it is advisable to take the larger size
The size of the finger varies depending on the time of day and the heat of your finger. This is why it is advisable to take this measurement at the end of the day (when your finger is warmest), because the cold tends to shrink the finger.
Finger measurement is a good way to determine the correct ring size. In addition, this method is economical and easy to do. However, to ensure that the size taken is the correct one, do not hesitate to repeat this method several times.
